72 days ago. After the Corona Lockdown the courts in Munich were all closed within 24 hours. Nothing worked anymore. No tennis means no training and therefore no weekly battles against your friends. If you don’t play, you don’t need any material and so the interest in the newest collections of the brands decreased.
We are all happy that things are looking up again. We are back on clay, we are back on court.
In Germany the clubs are open again since two weeks and every club member is allowed to play tennis under certain hygiene measures. In my club this is limited to three times an hour per week.
My top 3 to be back on clay
Top 1: Prepare your racket
Once your are back on court you will feel the difference. Your first hit after corona will be a very special one. Prepare your racket in the best way you can. New strings and new grips will have a great impact on your first session. Trust me 😉
Top 2: Be on time on court
The first session after a long break should not start under stress. Take your time and be on court 15-30 minutes before the start. Wrap the grip, check the balls and your drinks. My advice: Make an appointment for an early bird session at 7 am. There is no better time to start a day.
Top 3: Have fun on court
Once you have started you should enjoy your session to the full. Even though everyone thinks that after 72 days you have to find your strokes again, it’s amazing that you are back in the game after only a few minutes.
One of my first sessions was with Jonas, Marketing Manager at Wilson, and we had so much fun on court. We played three match tiebreaks and every tiebreak was a great fight. Not my best tennis and I lost every tiebreak but we had so much fun to be back on clay. What a great session.
