Talking about fast courts, food and travelling the world #AceQueen

When the FILA brothers opened their first shop in 1911 in Biella, a small town in the foothills of northern Italy, they had no idea how far their legacy would travel. 100 years later, FILA has enjoyed a special relationship with remarkable athletes. Back to 80’s Boris Becker, John McEnroe, Monica Seles and Björn Borg were well known for their FILA dresses. Todays faces are Marin Cilic, Laura Siegemund and Karolina Pliskova.

“I know, we players are privileged persons. I love travelling the world and playing in various countries. But Australia is definitely my place to be. Fast courts,good weather, lovely people and good food.”

The current number 5 in the world, Karolina Pliskova seems to be a balanced person. At the Meet&Greet in the Porsche Arena, the young Czech likes to take 30 minutes to talk about her everyday life on tour.

“I am in love with tennis and want to improve my game day by day. At the end it’s all about working on details. Nutrition, recovery and mindset are my topics to work on with my team.”

In my past I have met many players, but only few were as relaxed as the 27 years old number 4 of the world. The pressure as defending champion at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix is not felt. Her winning car from last year is still standing in her garage in Monaco.

“I do not have a driver’s licence. My husband and family aren’t always happy to be my taxi driver. But I promised them that I would get my driver’s license in the next few months.”

At the age of four she started playing tennis and since then she has always been uphill. She has always felt at home on fast courts and has always been known for her solid serve. #acequeen

“With Conchita Martinez I now have a new coach at my side, whom I trust very much. We are working on many details and I hope to be successful with my game on grass as well. Unfortunately, I have not been able to do that so far”.

I would have liked to have spoken with Karolina a little longer, but the lady from the WTA unfortunately has upset my plans. Unfortunately Karolina has to go on to the next press event.

I keep my fingers crossed not only for her, but also for her husband and her family, that after a possible successful title defence in Stuttgart and a second Porsche, she will soon successfully start the project driving license 😉
