Two weeks ago adidas announced the global launch of ALPHAEDGE 4D, engineered with the ADIDAS 4D midsole, for controlled energy return and breathable cushioning during intensive training runs. Thousands of sneaker fans spent that weekend so much time in online stores to snag one of the limited edition adidas AlphaEdge4D. I am so happy to be one of them 😉
.
“ADIDAS 4D is our most ambitious midsole to date. What started out as a conceptual FUTURECRAFT innovation, has not only allowed us to completely re-think our manufacturing processes, but to create a data-driven experience that breaks new ground in performance capability and comfort”,
said Klaus Rolshoven (Director of Future Design at adidas). At first glance, the new shoe looks like a small spaceship. The material of the midsole, which runs like a green net from the heel to the front, is absolutely in the focus of this innovation. In the raw state, this is liquid and changes by the irradiation with UV light in a solid state.
.
.

The expectations of the sneaker community were super, super, super high. There were only a few pics published by adidas before the official launch and everyone was excited to grab one of these limited edition high end running shoes.

The Production

ALPHAEDGE 4D features a sport-inspired geometric lattice structure, that provides stability, support and pin-point energy return, precisely where needed during the most challenging training run or workout. Click below and see one of the most inspiring videos producing a shoe out of a printer:
  • The evolution of creative freedom
  • It seems impossible for a moment
  • This is the next stop of evolution
  • It is all about data. It is a matrix
